The angel of grief

This photo was taken in Metairie Cemetery in New Orleans.

To me, this is one of the saddest images Ive ever taken, and one of the most haunting statues I have ever come upon.

The angel, draped over a tombstone, tells us so much. It tells us that the one who passed left profound heatbreak for their loved ones. What a beautifully heartbreaking way to show your love for the one who has left.

This is one of my favorite photos I have ever taken, and still, its hard for me to look at without becoming a bit emotional.
